Boiled Wool
Boiled Wool
Our gorgeous 100% wool fabric is perfect for creating oh-so cosy vests, tunics, berets, coats, and jackets. If you’re looking for pattern inspiration, we have several new patterns from Style Arc and Tessuti available instore.
March update: These fabrics have sold quickly and have been reordered several times. We have now received our final delivery. If there is another colour you require, then we could order a bolt in specially for you, (this is a minimum order to you of between 8-12m).
The production process for boiled wool involves shrinking the material, resulting in a dense felted fabric that resists fraying and further shrinkage.
Also good to know is our boiled wool is very competitively priced. We’ve been benchmarking prices and the average retail for exactly the same product is £27+. At Hometown, our boiled wool is £24/m.
Manufacturer washing instructions – a gentle cold-to-lukewarm bath (an actual bath would be good where it can spread out and not need moving much) with a specific wool wash. Avoid agitation or wringing. Carefully rinse and roll and press in a towel to remove excess water. We strongly recommend testing a small piece first to be sure.
Manufacturer: John Louden, 100% wool

This fabric is priced and sold by the quarter metre (equivalent price is £24/m). So for 1 metre, add a quantity of 4 to your basket; for 1.5m, add 6; for 2m, add 8 and so on. Larger quantities are always cut as a continuous length.
