we’re looking for fabulous fabric geekS to join our happy sales team…
Applicants must be keen quiltmakers, stitchers or dressmakers. Please do not apply if you do not have these skills; but if you’re interested in learning, we’d love to see you at one of our workshops.
All team members (including Marion) love to sew and are constantly updating their skills. If you’re a stitcher / dressmaker, but not a quilter, don’t worry, we can teach you! In this case you can attend the next available Beginners Quiltmaking course as part of your initial training.
WEEKDAY Vacancy
We have a vacancy for a part time team member to work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10.00-1.30 each day (total of 7 hours per week). There’ll also be the opportunity to work extra hours for staff holiday cover and at busy trading periods.
Your days will be filled with helping customers in-store, whilst juggling supplier deliveries, merchandising stock, ensuring the shop maintains high presentation standards and processing online orders.
Plus, as we host workshops, you’ll be advising students on available classes, processing bookings and occasionally preparing the workshop area for classes. As you can see we like to multi task!
WEEKEND VACANCY
We’re also looking for an extra weekend member of staff for 2 Saturdays* (14 hours) per month. (Plus there’s the possibility of extra hours for holiday coverage and during busy periods such as Christmas. *Working days will be the first and second Saturday of each month. The daily activities for weekend staff are as detailed above.

Either positions could suit a student, but please note you will be required to work during academic holidays, so please do not apply if you’re not based locally throughout the year. SKILLSET REQUIRED
Applicants should be friendly, helpful and take pride in their work.
You should have great communication skills and excellent numeracy as you’ll be advising customers with their sewing projects throughout the day.
Previous retail experience is a bonus, but is not vital for the right candidate as full training and support will be given.
Enthusiasm is essential and bags of energy as we’re a busy shop and you’re on your feet.
You should be self motivated and able to work independently and also to deadlines.
Accuracy and attention to detail are a given, as is the ability to multi task. A love of fabric, thread, felt and all things quilty is 100% essential.
