For a long time, we’ve loved shot cotton fabrics. These are woven fabrics where the warp and weft threads are in different colours. The result is a cloth which has a very subtle colour as it incorporates both hues of the woven threads. We are trialling a few colours of Pepper Cory’s extensive collection to see if you love them as much as us, before looking to extend the range of colours.

Shot cottons are ideal for making quilts in a modern style (think of quilts by Sarah Hibbert, Julius Arthur or Jessie Cutts), or as a coordinate with printed fabrics. With their softness and drape, they’re also perfect for simple, yet stylish dressmaking projects. They’re also ideal for hand stitching sashiko or boro projects. These shot cottons would sew beautifully with our Linen Union.

Peppered Cottons are priced and sold per quarter metre (equivalent price is £13.00/m).

Longer quantities are always cut as a continuous length. So, for half a metre, add a quantity of 2 to your basket; one metre, add 4; two metres, add 8 and so on.
