NEW! Chambray
NEW! Chambray
Chambray is a 100% cotton, plain-weave fabric made with a dyed warp yarn and a white filling yarn. The result is a cloth which has a very subtle colour as it incorporates both hues of the woven threads. We’ve seen it used in dressmaking for centuries and it is traditionally light blue in colour.
Chambray cottons are ideal for making quilts in a modern style (think of quilts by Sarah Hibbert, Julius Arthur or Jessie Cutts), or as a coordinate with printed fabrics. With their softness and drape, they’re also perfect for simple, yet stylish dressmaking projects. They’re also ideal for hand stitching sashiko or boro and home projects. These chambrays would work well together with our Shot Cottons, shown here, (which are slightly deeper in colours because of coloured warp and wefts). A free quilt pattern by Wendy Sheppard is available here.
100% cotton, 112cm (42-in) wide
