Every stitcher needs a needle case to keep their pins and needles tidy and to hand. And it’s even nicer if you’ve made it yourself. At Hometown we’re big fans of Corinne Lapierre’s work and sell her books and kits instore. We’re therefore delighted to offer one of her embroidery projects as part of our summer school.

The workshop is an ideal introduction to hand embroidery, which is a wonderfully portable and absorbing craft. As long as you can thread a needle and do a running stitch, we’ll teach you the rest. All materials are provided as part of the workshop.

During the afternoon, we’ll be exploring different stitches to decorate your needle case. As everyone stitches at different speeds, even if you don’t have your needle case finished during the afternoon, you’ll have all the instructions to complete it at home. Hand sewn.

This workshop is open to all from 12 years. Please note 12-16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult also booking onto the course.

Materials and equipment required:

• Thimble if you use one for hand sewing

• Small thread scissors / fabric scissors if you have them, if not we have plenty for you to borrow

• All other materials are supplied as part of the course fee

Refreshments will be provided. All students will be able to buy more felt and embroidery thread if they want to make more needle cases at home, plus they’ll get a 10% discount on any Corinne Lapierre kits they buy on the day.
