Are you trying to plan a more sustainable Christmas? Then this is the class for you! Reusable fabric crackers are the perfect scrap-busting project and can be used year after year, making them more eco-friendly than shop-bought crackers, as they also cut down on single use packaging. They're quick and easy to make and can be filled with whatever treats you like! Plus they’re far more jazzy and cost effective than any luxury cracker you can buy in the shops.

And remember crackers aren’t just for Christmas! Use them at any celebration - such as an engagement, Easter lunch, wedding anniversary. Choose fabrics to coordinate with your china and linen for a really special table setting.

** Special offer - if you’d like to book both workshops, you can sew all your crackers for Christmas in a day of festive sewing. Book both slots and we’ll give you a £5 gift card that you can redeem instore. Plus, move fast and book a machine for the morning slot and you can have the afternoon hire for free (subject to availability).

Materials and equipment required:

  • Sewing Machine, including straight sewing foot and spare bobbins. Don’t forget your lead and foot pedal!

  • Basic sewing kit, including sharp fabric scissors/rotary cutter (as you prefer),

  • Fabric marking pen/pencil, pins and stitch ripper.

  • Cotton thread to coordinate with your fabrics or a neutral colour such as grey or cream.

  • A minimum of two pieces of fabric, each at least 11 x 15-in (30 x 40cm) for the outer and lining for each cracker (this is slightly smaller than a FQ). You may want to bring extra fabric if you'd like to make more than one cracker during the class.

  • 1m of ric rac or decorative trim

  • 1m (15mm wide) satin ribbon for each cracker

  • 2 Sturdy cardboard inner tubes for your crackers will be provided (and we shall have more inner tubes available should you want to make more at home). And no, they aren’t loo rolls!

It’s advisable to buy your fabrics before the class to make the best use of workshop time. However, if there is anything you’re missing, the shop is open for you.

Refreshments will be provided.
