Blue Plate Special Applique
BOOKING OPENS 15 JUNE
Sunday 10 August 10.30-4.30pm
Tutor: Marion Haslam
Level: confident beginners/intermediate
This quilt is based on Marion’s Table Manners quilt*, sewn as part of our mudlarking window display and features the new Larking collection by Janet Clare. There has been a lot of interest in this collection, so we will be offering a quilt kit for the quilt top, which features the Larking prints and a variety of carefully chosen low volume prints to complement and the China Plates design for the borders and binding. The kits will be made to order, so please pre-order at least 2 weeks before the workshop. However, the pattern will also be stunning in your own choice of patterned charms or even a variety of solids. The finished quilt measures approximately 90 x 90cm (36 x 36in), which makes it an ideal size for a wall quilt.
During the day students will learn a modern way of sewing appliqué using a fusible medium which is a satisfying and fast way to create a quilt. Everyone works at different speeds. Some students may even be able to start quilting their quilt tops. All will be given ideas for quilting so you can finish your quilt at home in your own time.
