Get ready to have the best-dressed table in town with our new Pine Tree runner workshop. Your finished quilt can also be used as a bed runner to welcome seasonal visitors. The runner is 40cm (16-in) wide and there will be several options for lengths to fit your table/bed but all versions can be sewn using just one charm pack. * Background and border fabric quantities to be confirmed shortly.

During this class, Alison will show you a clever way of piecing multiple Pine Tree blocks. The quilt is completed with a simple border and can be quilted by hand or machine as you wish. Runners are an effective way to achieve a finished quilt quickly!

This course is suitable for confident beginner quilters who have already stitched a quilt and want to try a new block technique. Machine sewn.

Materials and equipment required:

• Sewing Machine. Don’t forget your 1/4-in sewing foot, pedal, lead and instruction book. Or travel light and book a workshop machine (don’t worry, it’ll be a full size machine - we just love this photo)!

• Basic sewing kit - large fabric scissors, pins, hand sewing needle

• Rotary mat, ruler and cutter (we do have some spare you can borrow, plus students get a discount too!)

• Charm pack or Sweet Treat of fabrics

• Coordinating cotton/sew-all thread for piecing, or a neutral

• XXX* of 112cm wide fabric for background, plain, plainish or low volume

• XXX* of 112cm wide fabric for borders, backing and binding - plain or patterned

• 50cm of 228cm / 305cm wide wadding (wadding width depends on the size you choose to make)

Refreshments will be provided. It’s advisable to sort out your fabrics beforehand to make best use of the workshop time. You can buy additional fabric and haberdashery during the class.
