Level - Confident beginners / Intermediate or students who have already completed our beginner workshops

Mini in size but maxi in fun. Do you have a stash of Moda Mini Charms or Jelly Roll off-cuts? Let’s use them! Come along and turn them into a beautiful mini quilt. This class is a great skill-builder. During the day you’ll learn how to make half-square-triangles, trim blocks for accuracy and use nested seams to create an adorable 43 x 43cm (17 x 17-in) quilt top. The quilt pattern can also be scaled up, so you can make larger versions using Charm Packs and even a Layer Cake.

Materials and equipment required:

  • Sewing machine. Don’t forget the 1/4-in foot, lead and foot pedal! Please - if you haven’t used your machine for some time, or you are borrowing one - do take time to try it out before the class. Alternatively you can hire a machine subject to availability (just add to your basket with your workshop booking).

  • Basic sewing kit containing sharp fabric scissors, pins and a stitch ripper

  • Rotary cutter, ruler and mat

  • 1 Moda Mini Charm pack (containing 42 2 1/2-in squares)

  • Coordinating thread

  • 1 Fat quarter for the background

  • 1 Fat quarter for the quilt border

  • To finish the quilt at home you’ll need 1 fat quarter for the backing, 1 fat quarter for the binding and a piece of wadding measuring 50 x 50cm (19 x 19-in) square and thread for quilting

It’s advisable to buy your fabrics beforehand to make the best use of workshop time. However, if there is anything you are missing, the shop will be open to students during the day.

Refreshments will be provided and there will be a break for lunch. You’re welcome to bring your own lunch, or there are a wide variety of coffee shops, tea rooms and delis in the high street.

If you have any questions, please phone us on 01634 838880 before booking. Please note we do not send out email reminders before a class as all the information you need is here! For shop location and car park info, check our Contact page.
