This is a first for Hometown - customers have asked us for velvet - so here it is!

Associated with nobility, the earliest velvet was produced in Baghdad in the 13th Century before the technique was adopted by 14th century Italian weavers. The earliest velvets were made of silk but today cotton is used to produce this soft, shiny and sleek fabric. Velvet is mainly used in upholstery, for curtains, cushions, but the weight of this velvet also makes it ideal for garments such as dresses and jackets.

Manufacturer: Rose and Hubble - 100% cotton, 112cm wide

Weight 225 gsm

Washing Instructions: manufacturer says dry clean only

Our velvet is really good value! It’s priced and sold by the quarter metre (equivalent price is £13/m). So for 1 metre, add a quantity of 4 to your basket; for 1.5m, add 6; for 2m, add 8 and so on.

Larger quantities are always cut as a continuous length. Plus, if you need a coordinating thread, just choose your size, add to your basket and we’ll do the rest!
